Parent Information- Dear Parents and Carers
You may be aware of an incident that took place in Brynmawr, Blaenau Gwent on the 16th May, 2023,
where a male person reportedly attempted to grab a primary school pupil on her way home. She is safe
following the incident and is being well supported by the School and the Police.
As a local authority, we work closely with other authorities throughout Wales, and wanted to share this
information with our Parents and Carers within Merthyr Tydfil to not only make you aware, but to have
conversations with your children around safety travelling to and from school.

IA5. Leadership & Management- Pupil Voice- As you know, Gellifaelog Primary School is working towards becoming a ‘nurturing school’ as we believe it is important to ensure our pupils are in a nurturing environment that supports them to learn. Nurture helps us to develop our social and emotional skills to support our development as well as to develop our resilience.
There are ‘Six Principles of Nurture’ which we want to embed throughout our school and school community.
Our ‘Nurture Principle’ this week is: The Importance of Nurture to the Development of Well-being “Nurture helps us feel good in our mind and body.”
