JRSO Junior Road Safety Officer
Here you will find out about the role of the Junior Road Safety Officer, along with lots of advice to help you make everyone aware of the dangers on the road.
What is a Junior Road Safety Officer (JRSO) ?
Junior Road Safety Officers help their local Road Safety Officer to promote road safety issues within the school and the local community. Each primary school is encouraged to appoint JRSO’s from Year 5/6 .
Being a JRSO is a very important job, but it’s also really good fun.
Throughout the year you could be involved in lots of activities.
Maintaining a notice board and making sure the road safety information is up to date
Talking in an Assembly or in Class on road safety themes
Arranging competitions
Awarding certificates
Using the JRSO website
Helping to appoint next year’s JRSO
Parking Buddies
Our Junior Road Safety Officers have been working hard trying to keep the area around our school safe. They now have the help of our little parking buddies who will be situated on the zig zags of the zebra crossing to stop illegal parking and in turn will allow pedestrians to be able to see AND be seen when crossing on the zebra crossing. Please continue to keep this area clear. The JRSOs received lots of positive feedback on Wednesday afternoon regarding this, so if you were one of these people, thank you! They will continue to try and keep the area safe BUT they also need your help. Please park away from the school and walk if you are able to. The will greatly reduce the amount of vehicles around our school. We look forward to speaking with you next time we are on duty. Diolch!
Duties
Here are our new Junior Road Safety Officers going out on patrol for the first time yesterday. They did a fantastic job keeping the area outside our school safe by placing the parking buddies on the white zig zags of the zebra crossing and ensuring nobody parked on the yellow School Keep Clear zig zags. It is very important that we keep these areas clear for the safety of the children. Thank you to everyone who parked safely and legally.
