Our Four Purpose Characters

Introducing our Characters!
Our purpose characters were created by the children of Gellifaelog to bring the four purposes of the Curriculum for Wales to life. They are not taught as separate lessons; instead, learning is planned to give children regular opportunities to develop the qualities each character represents. Children are encouraged to reflect on which characters they can see growing in themselves, while recognising that our aim is for every pupil to develop all four: to be ambitious, creative, ethical, healthy and confident.
-
Healthy Harri’s superpower is looking after himself and others. He helps us make healthy choices, build confidence, manage feelings, form positive relationships and develop the resilience to lead a happy, fulfilling life.
-
Ambitious Aled’s superpower is never giving up on learning. He encourages us to be curious, set ourselves challenges, learn from mistakes and keep developing our knowledge and skills.
-
Creative Carys’s superpower is turning ideas into action. She helps us to imagine, experiment, solve problems, work with others and contribute positively in school and beyond.
-
Ethical Eva’s superpower is doing the right thing. She encourages us to be kind, fair and respectful, to think carefully about the world around us and to understand our responsibilities as citizens of Wales and the wider world.
These reflect the Welsh Government’s four purposes: ambitious, capable learners; enterprising, creative contributors; ethical, informed citizens; and healthy, confident individuals.
